Each detail matters

Mistakes in the placement of pieces in sample kits (and how to avoid them)

A sample folder is often the first physical contact a client has with your product. For this reason, every detail influences the final perception: the design, the type of packaging, the quality and finishes, and also the placement of the samples. However, in many sample kit projects, small mistakes appear at this stage that can affect the final result.

When producing a sample kit, several stages related to the interior samples are involved, such as:

  • Decision on the appropriate support for presentation (foam, cardboard, thermoformed plastic, glued pieces…)
  • Cutting of samples
  • Handling of samples
  • Placement of pieces in the sample kit and final assembly

It is important to maintain full control at every stage because different issues may arise, such as:

  1. Incorrect placement of the samples: this may occur when there is no clear system for sample verification and routine quality control.
  2. Incorrectly referenced samples: this can happen when there is a large number of samples, very similar references, or poor management in the reception of materials.
  3. Supports that are not suitable for the type of sample: depending on the size and weight of each sample, some supports are more suitable than others. A poor choice may cause slight movements of the samples.
  4. Excessive use of glue: it may overflow from the sample kit, creating glue stains and affecting the final finish.

How to prevent problems from arising

To avoid these types of issues, it is important to apply controls during the production process of the sample kit, especially during the handling phase.

At Mytplast, we ensure that each piece is correctly placed and that the final sample kit conveys the quality of the product from the very beginning, by making sure to:

  • Carry out quality verification during each stage of production and sample handling
  • Use suitable adhesives for each type of material
  • Apply clear sample identification systems
  • Validate a mock-up of packaging and interiors before starting production
